My Plan For Winter Vacation

This winter, I will go to Harrison with my friends. After exams, I think it is a good choice to relieve my pressure so that I want to go to enjoy spring. I have been to Harrison on April, and it was not so expensive to rent a room. The rent was approximately 100 dollars every night with two bed rooms. Besides, Harrsion spring, I want to go shopping in downtown. In Christmas, every shop is going to have discount event, so I want to go shopping, especially I want to buy the products which I cannot afford buying, but I can afford to buy these products in Christmas. In addition, I want to continue to read more novels during the winter vacation. Novel reading is greatly good for English learning, so I think I would spend much time reading novels in order to improve my English Level. Overall, it should be a busy winter vacation because I have many plans.

My Favorite Trip

My favorite trip is America; I have been to Los Angeles this February with my mom. It is a beautiful place and I prefer going there again next year. I have been to Disney Land, and I bought many souvenirs. Disney Land is a place that every person likes going. There are two parts in the land; one is magical land, the other is adventure land. I wanted to go to adventure land at first because I like undergoing adventure; however, my mom was scared so that we went to magical land. Although magical land is suitable for children, and some people do not think it is a good choice for adults playing, my mom and I enjoyed playing it. There are many lovely cartoon figures in the land that people can take pictures with them. Besides the cute environment, my mom and I enjoyed creative programs which Americans provides us. In the end, I was greatly enlightening. America as the best country in the world, it is a creative country so it can obtain significant feebacks. I hope China can be the same in the future, although it still needs long way to go.

Crazy Little Thing Called Love

This Wednesday, I watched a movie called Crazy Little Thing Called Love. It is from Thailand. Nam is a school girl who is not pretty. She likes the boy who is the most handsome and that boy studies very well, and then, Nam studies hard and tries to change herself. Through her snow white performance and concert, everyone in the school acknowledges her and begins to like her. After nine years study in America, Nam becomes a well known designer and she comes back to Thailand because of her work. Nam later has relationship with that boy, so it is a happy ending. There are three reasons that I like watching this movie. One is it motivates all kind of people. Although the story is happened in school, and it is not related to the family and the society, all kind of people can be greatly touched because of the successful plots. The second one is the movie helps people to know love can be beautiful. Without any depressed plots, people can entertain themselves and learn something that they haven't known before. The last one is the movies helps me have confidence to persure my life. I can have more confidence; consequently, I can achieve my goal. As a result, Crazy Little Thing Called Love is a great movie that I recommend all of you go to watch it, and you will not regret choosing watch it.

Research Paper and Novel

This week, our class is working on research paper, and I think it is a difficult task for all of us. The research paper requires many words and specific references. I am feeling challenging because I never wrote this kind of paper before. Although I wrote essay about 2500 words before, I still feeling much pressure this week. Next week, we also have two exams; one is essay about novel and the other is answering two questions from the novel. Kite Runner is my first adult novel; I was a lazy person before so that I didn't like reading any novel. For Michael recommended us Kite Runner is an excellent book that we might consider much in our life, I began to read from the beginning of this semester. In the novel, I have learnt that people should  cherish relationship betwen them and their friends; otherwise, they might be regretful. Although Amir is timid and selfish at first, he becomes to be brave when he has belief to save Sohrab. Overall, Kite Runner is a great novel that everyone should save their time to read.

Snowy Night

Last Saturday, I met with Yoyo to have a delicious meal. We ate dinner in Crystal Mall which is much far away from my home. At first, we scheduled to watch the film Harry Potter; however, there were so many people who bought the tickets in that night. As a result, we changed the plan to eat in Crystal Mall. It was a happy night because I ate spicy food again. Yoyo and me hope that we can watch Harry potter in the next weekend because our final exam is coming. After the next week, we have to spend much time on the textbooks and class materials.

Cultural Mysteries

During the process I am studying English, I met several things which are really confused. I think studying English is a way to learn about foreign culture. There are totally five mysterious phenomena that are interesting.

The first one is Canadian people and Chinese people would have different reaction when it is raining. For example, if it is raining, many Canadian people do not like using umbrella, and then they run quickly in order to avoid the wet raining water. However, almost all Chinese people prefer using umbrella when it is raining. As a result, I cannot understand the reason that most Canadian people do not like using umbrella when it is raining.

The second one is it looks true that most western people like family activities; however, some Chinese people do not like family activities at all. It is so obvious that the young generation in China like going out to entertain when they are free, but the young generation in Canada are more likely to stay at home in order to accompany with their families. Overall, the different culture causes different attitude between the young generation in Canada and the young generation in China.

The third one is parents in two areas usually have different kinds of attitude when they educate children. In china, it is not common to see that parents always choose to respect children's decisions so that children could be independently. Chinese parents do not always like the way that children could freely make their own decisions, oppositely, they prefer their children listening to them. Therefore, after I came to Canada, I felt the parents in Canada act differently.

The next one is Canadian people are not likely to hate crow; however, most Chinese people do not like crow because it is not a lucky symbol in China. In China, almost all people look crow as an ominous symbol so that it is impossible to see crow there.

The last one is if Canadian people talk with others, they should look at other people's eye in order to show repect; however, Chinese people do not need to act like that. It is quite casual that Chinese people talk with each other; therefore, I adjusted myself after I came to Canada because I could not accustom the formal environment when I talked to others .

The Effect Coming to Canada Had on Me

     I have lived in Canada for almost four years. Through these four years, I have changed a lots such as my interpersonal skill and independent skill. I was not an extroverted person and I seldom had urges to talk to others, but now I am sure that I am an extroverted person and I like talking to others. Moreover, when I lived in my hometown: Shanghai, I could not make a meal because I got used to wait for someone to cook for me and I seldom would like to make a meal for myself because I was entremely lazy. I also could not greatly take care of myself such as I was often sick and uncomforable. As a result, my mother thought it is worth for me to go abroad and receive a brand new life in order to improve my interpersonal and independent skill. The life in Canada is a new life for me since I changed to another character and I began to acknowledged that I should take the responsibility to take care of myself because I am an adult.

     After arrived in Canada, I was not happy at all because I thought I was aparted from my friends and most of my family members, but now I think it is a benefical way for me to start a totally different life in Canada. If I do not go to Canada, I cannot imagine that what kind of person I would like to be. Time continuously goes, I only wish I could contibute more efforts to myself and my family so that I could obtain more treasures that I would not gain in my hometown.
